Project Map
What actions should be taken to preserve the heritage of the glider industry in Bielsko-Biała? How heritage awareness strengthens the creation of the future. This is the starting point for planning the joint design process by scientists, engineers, designers and artists.
Debate "How to protect the heritage of SZD in Bielsko-Biała"
Bielsko-Biała is a city with a rich history and traditions related to aviation. It was here, in the interwar period, that the Silesian Glider Works operated, producing 180 gliders. After the war, these traditions were continued, and Bielsko-Biała became an important center of Polish gliding.
Seminar "Gliders from Bielsko-Biała"
Engineering challenges for engineers from Bielsko-Biała during their over 80-year adventure in glider construction". This is the subtitle of the lecture by Edward Margański delivered at the University of Bielsko-Biała on December 20, 2024.
Exhibition
The challenge is to present the history of gliding in such a way as to, on the one hand, convey the sentiment of pioneering times, and on the other, interest the young recipient using new technologies. The basic form of presentation was large-format prints on fabrics.

Since the topic of the lecture, "Aircraft Structures by Edward Margański", is consistent with the content of the recently published autobiographical book "Aviator from the Nile", the illustration for this lecture is approximately 50 photographs taken from this book.
History of SZD gliders from Bielsko-Biała - communication
Visual communication project for information purposes in the airport space and digital application. It consists of appropriate recording of as much information as possible on one information board (Racławice panorama concept). It allows to quickly remember the overall picture of the phenomenon, which is especially important for youth education.
People carrying a glider
The heritage of the city's technical culture can build awareness and pride in its residents. An example worth recalling are the people who raised Bielsko gliding to a world-class level. The spatial installation at the roundabout is an allegory of the eternal desire to fly and joint effort.
Designing a glider cabin
Using the example of a glider cabin design and an innovative seat for the Lotus Super 7, Rafał Liszka presents how 3D scanning, virtual reality, 3D printing and other tools are revolutionizing the creative process.
Designing flight suits
The film presents an analysis of the process of creating a brand image through clothing, using flight suit designs as an example. The study takes into account visual and functional aspects, in the context of the specificity of two brands: Silberform and SZD Allstar
Glider - educational application
Szybownik is a mobile application created as part of the arting project 2020 "heritage" competition. Its author is Mateusz Madej. The aim of the application is to present the history of gliding, and in particular the SZD gliding experimental plants in Bielsko-Biała.

Photogrammetry is a field of science and technology that deals with mapping the shapes of objects, their sizes and their mutual position in space. The basis for its operation are photographs, called photograms, which allow the creation of 3D models of a given object.

A flight simulator based on a real glider, the S-30 Pirat. It was built by students of the Technical and Trade School Complex in Bielsko-Biała for the Technical Innovation Olympics.
