Projekt Arting 2020 "dziedzictwo"

Medical wool

Medical wool

arting distinction in the heritage category

In times of a developed pharmacological industry, we often forget about natural means of treatment. One of the currently underestimated materials is wool. Until the 1980s, wool was widely used in the textile industry and in everyday use. In the 1990s, as a result of the opening of the market to new materials, the value of this raw material dropped dramatically. Therefore, its production and processing became unprofitable. Wool fell out of common use, and knowledge about its invaluable properties began to disappear. The aim of this project is to promote wool as a health-promoting product, to increase recipients' awareness of the health benefits of wool in highlander traditions and its use in medicine both today and in the future. Presenting wool as a product with a rich history and a sustainable impact on the future makes the recipient reflect on the innovation of wool and its production needs. Visually, this project was created with the intention of breaking existing associations with wool. Wool should become associated with hygiene, cleanliness and modernity, not dirt and an unpleasant, rough touch. Materials from which the project would be made: aluminum frame, white fabric with a print.
