Wiring pots, birdcages, mousetraps and other items from wire from Silesian steelworks has been a traditional craft in the Žilina area since the 18th century. The local workshops and traveling craftsmen were known all over the world. Although the industry of the 20th century replaced crafts, tinkering survived in the form of artistic studios. The museum in Žilina organizes tinkering festivals.
