2. Let's come up with solutions
During the summer, we collected and analyzed ideas for solving the problems affecting the promenade. We collected information by e-mail and at a meeting with residents and entrepreneurs that took place at the beginning of July, as well as during art workshops for children.
The information collected shows that more events are needed, and there are ideas of flea markets, fairs, summer cinema, concerts and other spaces with live music. A lot of people talk about places to sit in the shade. Residents would also like interesting places such as shops with original handicrafts and regionally produced souvenirs, as well as galleries, places for making music, craft workshops, and places for exchanging experiences.
Submitted ideas:
- exhibitions and artistic workshops, cafes, clubs with gardens, places for exchanging experiences between seniors and young people,
- museums, exhibitions, art shops,
- shops with original handicrafts,
- antique shops, shops with handicrafts and regional products,
- bookstores with manga and comics, karaoke,
- shops with souvenirs, but not Chinese souvenirs but those produced in the region by artists and craftsmen, a professional music store with engaged staff, places "without a telephone",
- art galleries, a bookstore with a cafe, cuisines from various places around the world: French, Indian,
- Asia: live music, street musicians,
- Bartek: places for jam sessions, where there will be instruments that can be rented
- Syl: It would definitely be nice to see more greenery - even in pots, as well as plants useful for bees. More benches.
Empty premises in tenement houses along the street - unless rented as living spaces - would be perfect for renting, for example, the purpose of conducting art and craft workshops, exhibitions, and lectures. It could be rented, for example, for a few weeks or days, depending on the purpose. - wooden benches with backrests for elderly people, roof,
- Małgorzata: The street should be full of greenery and places to sit - wooden benches, not metal ones. There should be a lane for cyclists. Local residents' shops and cafes, not chain stores - to enable regional small businesses to operate. Street festivals or thematic fairs will attract tourists.
- Justyna: Definitely color renewal. In my opinion, graffiti is currently fashionable, but artistic ones (example Bark and tree, should be displayed when searching on the Internet), such graffiti/painting could be added, of course to a small extent so as not to overshadow the beauty and history of these buildings
- Maria: The street currently called 11 November reminds me of the promenade that I used to go to in my free time when I was young. I wouldn't want chains of clothing stores to see her. I would prefer galleries, antique and souvenir shops. Maybe workshops for children - art - music. Places to sit
and take a break from the hustle and bustle. Or maybe for children - colorful benches with music from Bolek, Lolek and Reksio as a symbol of our city. - MJ: The number of empty premises on November 11 is overwhelming. I think that the city should create a program to support entrepreneurs and, for example, give them a discount on rent in the first months of renting. It would be good to see art galleries, art/craft studios/shops, and more places focused on educating young and old.
- Maria: I would like the street to be safer, for there to be no homeless people on it, and for large, modern shop signs that do not match the old tenement houses to disappear. Coffee shops would also be a nice idea, instead of the ubiquitous chain stores, to put benches and plant plants,
- Paulina: open-air cinema, discounts on renting premises for craftsmen, benches with a roof, dog waste bins with bags.
- Rafał: I think that an interesting solution would be to roof part of the street. In this way, you can create a "rest zone. Only cafes and shops
with "very unnecessary but cool items", greenery in huge pots, accents related to the history of Bielsko and Biała. - Adam: More greenery, some sun protection over the benches.
- Patrycja: It would be a great idea to organize an outdoor cinema on November 11/in the area. Cinemas in Dębowiec and Gemini are popular, but access to them is problematic, so organizing a similar event in the center would certainly attract more people.
- Marek: It would be great if there were places where you could exchange knowledge and experiences with older residents of the street and the surrounding area.
Coworking spaces and makerspaces are popular in various places. Plus more greenery. Large trees providing shade. - Staszek: I have no reason to go to November 11th. there is nothing there that coincides with my interests. in Krakow I like bars - game arcades such as Cyber Machina, I would love to see something similar in the bba center.
- Anna: A place to exchange things we no longer use, good quality media such as games, books, films. I bring a book I've read and in return I take a movie I haven't seen yet.
- Elder design studio: fountains, temporary places for sports, traditional food markets from various regions, common rooms and playrooms for children and adults.
- Ola: First, I would plant two rows of trees along the street. It seems to me that this will not have a negative effect on the ability to move around on the street. I would avoid trees in pots - this is only an illusory band-aid to the problem of lack of greenery. In order to adapt the city to climate change, we need trees that will provide a lot of shade in the future, trees suitable for urban conditions (e.g. linden) and planted in the ground, with a large permeable surface around them. Plac Wojska Polskiego and ul. Cyniarska is now being planted with trees, which I think is a very good change and I'm glad it's finally happening (although I think there could be more of them in the square itself). Benches could be installed under the trees (necessarily wooden, not metal, which is hot on a summer day and their aesthetics are questionable). In order to revitalize the street (although the very fact of planting trees will immediately create a place where people are more willing to walk), I think that good ideas are to encourage cafe owners to open on this street through attractive rents, the possibility of putting out gardens in the summer (between the tenement houses and the trees). ). I would also make the types of premises there more attractive - a shop with local handicrafts, a club/café, a place for an outdoor cinema. Perhaps an intergenerational dance was once organized in Warsaw, such an event, e.g. at the new Plac Wojska Polskiego, would be great. The chaos caused by signs and advertisements should be eliminated (maybe through the Landscape Act? Unfortunately, I do not know the appropriate legal mechanisms for this). I suggest minimalist, neat signs, neon signs are now a very popular and beautiful practice. I don't know what the plans are for Wolności Square, but even if it remains a parking lot, I suggest planting new trees.
Action completed.
