Ladies and Gentlemen!

It is a great satisfaction that the Arting Project has its roots and has been taking place in Bielsko-Biała for almost thirty years. Today, few people probably remember that this valuable initiative was created as a response of the artistic community to the political transformation that took place in Poland after 1989.

The idea behind the venture was clear. The creators of the project decided to integrate the creative, artistic and engineering communities and encourage them to take joint action for the benefit of our city and region. The common element connecting these groups was industrial design as an example of the direct impact of art on the economy.

Over the years, naturally, the Arting Project has evolved, adapting to the changing world around us and responding to the needs and challenges of our times.

I am glad that this year's edition of the festival took up the topic of the city. This issue is, on the one hand, quite common and simple, because it concerns all of us as people living in the city, and on the other, it is complicated, such as the urban structure, history or the differences that divide us - the inhabitants.

I am convinced that artists, as exceptionally sensitive, empathetic and open people, are able to look at the city from a new perspective and see in it value and potential that ordinary city residents miss. And I hope, of course, that they will share their perspective and discoveries with us. And inspire new actions for the development of our little homeland.

I would like to thank all the organizers and participants of this year's festival for taking up such an important topic. I know that we will not receive binding answers to all our questions and doubts related to the functioning of the city, but I hope that we will get significantly closer to them.
